Europe's forests dying for bad climate policyI don't usually have anything to do with the pro-AGW Guardian but as they say, even a broke clock is right twice a day. And with the Guardian you have to take even that with a shaker of salt (the pro-AGW part, that is):
'Protected forests are being indiscriminately felled across Europe to meet the EU’s renewable energy targets, according to an investigation by the conservation group Birdlife.
Birdlife found logging taking place in conservation zones such as Poloniny national park in eastern Slovakia and in Italian riverside forests around Emilia-Romagna, where it said it had been falsely presented as flood-risk mitigation.
In Slovakia, the drive to reach t
The human costs of 'fighting' climate changeThis is a follow-up to
From the blog of Blair King https://achemistinlangley.wordpress.com/about/
Dr. King is a 'lukewarmer'; that is to say he pretty much believes that current climate change is mostly human-induced and may- MAY, not Will- get bad.
However because he does not subscribe to the idea of throwing away $Trillions to make virtually NO difference by the end of the century, he is labeled a 'climate denier.'
And this is why he understands that throwing away $Trillions is going to be a big mistake:
There is an incredibly common misperception about the fight against climate change that I find intensely frustrating. The misperception is that fighting climate change has to be seen as easy to be sold to the public and is inherently good for everyone involved. This misperception is so acute that it has its own meme. This meme really took off with
The Hamilton Incident So, yeah: this annoying shit happened.
I love the lofty hand gestures, like he's addressing a retarded infant; or giving some grand proclamation, like the fucking Declaration. Am I supposed to take his performance seriously?
Well, at least, he's not willing to penalize the content of the story by targeting its actors.
My personal opinion: Um, I think they're smug jackasses for coercing the Vice President elect ('Everybody pull out your phones! Record this, tweet this, this is going everywhere!') into listening to their passive aggressive manifestos: after performing a musical. Nothin' caps off a fun night at the theater like the tacit implications of racism and bigotry. Expressed by a bunch of condescending thespians.
Now, this strikes a specific chord with me (as an aspiring film maker) because I would never politically discriminate against a paying customer to one of my shows; it's just bad business. Moreover, principally, it's incredi
The Left's war on science. But first, a reminder which came to me from :iconTheArtFrog: - When I say the 'Left' I mean the hard left. Not the more reasonable 'liberal' but the regressive Left.
From Climate scientist and skeptic Judith Curry:
The Left has done far more than the Right to set back progress. – John Tierney
John Tierney has written a stunningly insightful piece in the City Journal Magazine: The Real War on Science. Read the whole thing. Here are some excerpts of particular relevance to climate science:
Conservatives just don’t have that much impact on science. I know that sounds strange to Democrats who decry Republican creationists and call themselves the “party of science.” But I’ve done my homework. I’ve read the Left’s indictments, including Chris Mooney’s bestseller, The Republican War on Science. I finished it with the same question a
4 Aprile NO MUOS
Sabato 4 Aprile 2015, dalle 14.30 a Niscemi (CT)
